2000 Dodge Avenger Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Shock Absorber Through Disassembly and Assembly on 2000 Dodge Avenger?
A: Opening and repairing the shock absorber can be started by taking off the self-locking nut first. Ensure the coil spring is compressed with supportive tools and that it fits evenly, so you can use the whole installed length. When you're holding the piston rod, slowly remove the nut by hand, without using an impact wrench. To put the new coil spring back together, use the special tools to compress it as you did earlier and make sure the edge matches the accepted step of the spring seat on the shock absorber. After that, attach the upper bracket assembly so the position of the three bolts matches the damper fork installation bolt. First, tighten the self-locking nut somewhat, then put away the special tools (MB991237 and MB991239) and lock the nut with the torque required.
