2000 Dodge Grand Caravan Throttle Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Throttle Cable Without Damaging the Core Wire on 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Be careful not to injure or twist the wire that runs through the cable when you service the accelerator, throttle or speed control. From the inside of the engine compartment, set the throttle lever close to the engine to its widest and then release the throttle cable from the throttle body cam. Take the cable retainer and throttle cable from the top of the pedal shaft, then hold the pedal up while you work. After that, get rid of the retainer clip on the throttle cable near the dash panel and remove the cable from the panel grommet. Push both tabs holding the throttle cable in place together and pull the cable free from the bracket before you let go. Instead of pulling the housing end from the cable bracket on the engine and slotting it into the dash panel grommet, you need to pull it from the opposite direction. While still inside the car, once again attach company-supplied pedal-locating tape to the lower end of the pedal shaft. In the dash panel, attach the retainer clip to the end of the throttle cable link and the grommet and, finally, from the engine compartment, open the throttle lever as wide as it goes and put on the rest of the cable.
