How to Maintain a Back Up Light Switch for Manual Transmissions on 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser?

Before any work on the back up lamp switch for a manual transmission, put the car on a hoist. Take off the back up lamp switch connector and then screw the switch out of the transaxle. Cover the switch threads with Teflon tape or an alternative and install it securely, but don't so tighten it as to cause damage. Attach the back up lamp switch wire back, lower the vehicle and ensure the back up lamps are working.
