  • Q: How to Service the Cigarette Lighter on 2001 Chrysler Voyager?
    A: Before starting the service, cut the connection to the battery by disconnecting its negative terminal. See where the retaining bosses are placed inside the cigarette lighter base. Put the external snap ring pliers, with their tips facing the bosses, over the snap ring and squeeze them to loosen the bosses from the base. Pull the base out of the mounting ring by gently rocking the pliers or else use a specialized tool for this. First, detach the base wires and keep the base to the side and then get rid of the light ring and its wire. When you place the mounting ring, put the wires through it and line up the cap and ring with the key at the 9 o'clock position on the instrument panel before confirming the ring is installed. Attach the wires to the base so that the base's alignment rib is at the 11 o'clock position to fit in the groove of the ring. Push the base down into the socket until it clicks, turn on the element and add the cover to the cigarette lighter.
