2001 Dodge Caravan EGR Valve Parts and Q&A
Q: How Is the EGR Valve Serviced Alongside the Electrical EGR Transducer on 2001 Dodge Caravan?
A: EGR valve and Electrical EGR Transducer are maintained as one unit in the engine. Remove the vacuum tube from the electric EGR transducer and check it for damage as the first step. Second, unplug the electrical connector from the solenoid and remove the bolts holding the EGR tube to the EGR valve. Take off the EGR valve from the cylinder head adaptor, then clean the gasket contact area and replace the gasket if it seems damaged or has any cracks. When installing, place the new gasketed EGR valve on the cylinder head adaptor, screw the bolts from the EGR valve to the EGR tube loosely and then do the same for the bolts of the EGR valve with the cylinder head. With the engine cooled, tighten the bolts that hold the EGR valve to the cylinder head to 22.8 Nm (200 ± 25 in. lbs.) and the bolts the valve to the EGR tube to 11.9 Nm (105 ± 20 in. lbs.) torque. At last, connect the vacuum hose and electrical connector to the electrical EGR transducer again.
