2001 Jeep Wrangler A/C Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Switch on 2001 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Start by unplugging the battery negative cable to disable the air bags on vehicles with them and then wait for two minutes so the capacitor inside the air bag system empties before servicing the control assembly. Take out the negative battery cable, then stick your arm into the instrument panel glove box to remove the two pieces of the heater-A/C vacuum harness. Pull the heater-A/C control away from the instrument panel by removing the four screws that hold it place and reaching the connections at the back of the control. Remove all three wires from the heater-A/C control in the back, then take out the control from the instrument panel. To fit the control, plug in the connectors at the back of the heater-A/C unit, put it in the instrument panel and screw it down, using 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.) of force. Rejoin both sides of the heater-A/C vacuum harness connector through the glove box opening, put the glove box and center bezel back on and then connect the battery negative cable.
