2002 Chrysler Concorde Exhaust Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair the Left Exhaust Manifold on 2002 Chrysler Concorde?
A: Before fixing the left exhaust manifold, take out the negative cable from the remote jumper terminal and lift the vehicle on a hoist. Take off the exhaust system and the left catalytic converter and be sure to throw away the V-Band clamp. Undo the bolt holding the transmission dipstick tube and turn the housing away from the engine, before you slowly lower the vehicle. First, remove the screws holding the electrical connectors and harness to the support bracket and next, take out the engine wiring harness support bracket from the cylinder head. Unplug the oxygen sensor attaching to the exhaust manifold and remove the sensor before getting rid of the engine oil dipstick tube. Disconnect the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head by unscrewing the manifold attaching bolts after removing the heat shield screws and heat shields. Check the exhaust manifolds for signs of damage or cracks, make sure the manifold is flat and look for any change in the exhaust manifold gasket's color or shape. Examine the mounting surface on the cylinder head by running a straightedge along it and comparing with a thickness gauge. When installing, fix the exhaust manifold and use the gasket, then tighten all the bolts, starting from the middle out to 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.). Install the heat shields, using a torque wrench to tighten to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) and next install the oxygen sensor, connecting the electrical connector after that. Lift the vehicle up again to insert the bolt for the transmission dipstick tube, add the O-ring to the engine oil dipstick tube and put the tube in place. Reinstall the left catalytic converter, set a new V-Band clamp to 10 Nm (100 in. lbs.), place the engine wiring harness support bracket on the cylinder head and link them together. Go ahead and reattach the exhaust system and attached the negative end of the cable again.
