2002 Chrysler Voyager Power Steering Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Hose for Pressure Hose on 2002 Chrysler Voyager?
A: To fix the power steering pressure hose, take off the cap from the reservoir, use a siphon pump to drain the rest of the fluid and then start service and repair. Lift the vehicle and take out the front emissions vapor canister, making sure you have an oil drain pan under it. Unscrew the pressure hose tube nut that is attached to the pump's pressure fitting, then take away the hose from the pump. Remove the bolt linking the right routing clamp to the front suspension cradle crossmember and take out the pressure hose after you do that. Following that, take out the pressure hose tube nut from the power steering gear, remove the hose from the gear and pull out the pressure hose from the car. For installation, take out the O-rings installed at the power steering hose ends and clean both ends of the hose and the fitting on the pump and the steering gear port with a lint-free towel. After installation, apply clean power steering fluid to both ends of the O-rings in the hose. Be careful that the hose ends are not bent when installing, to guard against leaks and to make certain that hoses do not contact the exhaust system or hazardous parts of the car. Run the hose up through the cradle crossmember to the power steering pump, steering clear of sharp bends or kinks as much as possible. Link the hose end to the pump's pressure outlet and then screw on the tube nut, but not tightly. Slide the hose underneath the cradle crossmember and begin throwing the tube end into the gear port, again avoiding to tighten the nut at this point. Insert the hose into the routing clamp and connect it with the mounting bolt by turning it to 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.) tightness. Tighten the pressure hose against the return part of the fluid hose plate on the power steering pump. After that, tighten the nuts on the pressure hose tubes at the pump and gear to 31 Nm (275 in. lbs.) of torque, put back the front vapor canister, lower the vehicle, bleed the power steering system according to the Power Steering Pump Initial Operation Procedure and inspect it for any leaks.
