Q: How to Remove and Install Car Speakers in the D-Pillar, Front Door, Instrument Panel, and Quarter Panel on 2003 Dodge Caravan?
A: To take out the D-Pillar speaker, cut off battery power, detach and isolate the negative cable and remove the trim in the right back area, the left jacket cover and the liftgate scuff plate. Then unscrew the bolt above the upper seat belt, lift the quarter trim panel enough to get to the speaker, lift the speaker from the securing bracket and unplug the wire harness connector. For the Front Door speaker, you should cut the negative terminal from the battery, remove the panel that covers the door trim, remove its mounting screws, disconnect the wiring between the door and speaker and then take the speaker out of the door. With the negative battery cable removed and isolated, separate the trim from the A-pillar, the instrument panel pad, remove the screws holding the speaker and cut the main electrical connector to pull the speaker from its place. If you have a Quarter Panel speaker, detach the battery negative cable, ease out the grill from the trim panel with a trim stick, unscrew the speaker retaining screws and separate the wire harness connector to extract the speaker. For installation, fit the wire harness connector onto the D-pillar speaker, slide it into place in the retainer, re-attach the quarter panel trim, upper seat belt bolts, liftgate scuff plate, rear header trim and jack cover and only then put on the battery negative cable. For the Front Door speaker, assemble the harness, connect it to the wire harness, secure the speaker to the door and fix it with the included screws and set the trim back into place before you connect the battery negative cable. Begin by connecting the wire harness to the Instrument Panel speaker, mount the speaker in the instrument panel, fasten it with screws, install the top instrument pad and the A-pillar trim. Afterward, connect the battery negative cable when all has been installed. For the Quarter Panel speaker, attach the wire harness connector, install the speaker to the trim panel, use the mounting screws, fit the speaker grill into the panel and connect the negative battery terminal.
