2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Van Battery Tray Parts and Q&A
Q: How to remove and install the battery tray on 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Van?
A: The first thing you should do to remove the battery tray is to take out the battery and the battery temperature sensor. Then release the two screws at the front of the tray that secure it to the battery tray support, the two more rear screws that join it to the dash panel bracket and the two more outboard screws that hold it in place with the left cowl side panel. Next, get rid of the battery tray and formed drain tube at the same time and remove the two nuts that secure the tray to the left wheelhouse inner panel. Prior to installation, make sure the battery tray is clean and check it over. Put on the battery tray support and fix it to the weld studs with two nuts tightened to 22.6 Nm (200 in. lbs.). Put the battery tray on the support base and attach it to the left cowl side panel with two screws fastened to 11.8 Nm (105 in. lbs.) and then connect it to the dash support panel with two screws at 10.7 Nm (95 in. lbs.), the same for the ones at the bottom. Pass the formed tube from the battery tray through the mounting hole and then through the drain hole. As you slide it up, press down on the top end to seat it. After that, screw in the battery temperature sensor to the battery tray and put the battery on the tray.
