2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Van Oil Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to properly remove and install an oil filter on 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Van?
A: Each engine includes a reliable full-flow, disposable type oil filter and you are advised to use a Mopar or similar oil filter. Put a pan underneath the filter, then use a suitable filter wrench to turn the filter counterclockwise. Counterclockwise rotation of the oil filter should break its seal from the cylinder block oil filter boss. When the filter comes away from the adapter nipple, tilt the gasket part upward so that oil doesn't spill out and pull the filter from your car. Before installing a new filter, wipe the oil and grime off the gasket sealing surface with a cloth. For installation, put just a little bit of engine oil or chassis grease on the gasket, then place the filter on the adapter nipple. After the gasket presses against the sealing surface, fasten the filter one full turn, but not so tight that the plastic becomes deformed. After that, add the oil to the pan.
