2003 Dodge Ram 3500 Pitman Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Pitman Arm on 2003 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: You should first loosen the drag link by using Puller C-4150A so that the right knuckle and pitman arm come off. Note where the pitman arm and shaft will connect and then remove the nut and washer from the pitman arm before you use Puller C-4150A to get rid of the arm. When installing, place the reference marks together, fit the pitman arm, put on the lock washer and retaining nut and tighten the nut to 251 Nm (185 ft. lbs.). Then, join the drag link to the pitman arm, add the nut and make sure it's tightened to 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.). After the supports are gone, slowly lower the vehicle, put the steering wheel in its center and check the toe. Tighten all the tie rod adjustment sleeve clamp bolts to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.), but make sure the clamp is positioned so that the retaining bolt is on the bottom of the sleeve.
