2003 Dodge Sprinter 3500 Washer Reservoir Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain a Washer Reservoir on 2003 Dodge Sprinter 3500?
A: You should always first cut the negative battery cable before you remove the cover of the windshield washer reservoir. Uninstall the heat shield from the upper turbo and remove the upper air cleaner housing from inside the engine area. Take the wire harness connector from the washer pump or motor unit out of the motor connector receptacle. Unclip the wire harness from the routing clip at the front of the washer reservoir, remove the washer supply hose from the barbed nipple on the washer pump/motor and collect the reservoir liquid in a clean container so you can use it later. After that, unhook the supply hose from inside the tray on the top of the washer reservoir. Unscrew and take out the washer and nut affixed to the stud nut on the right inner fender. Then, pulling the washer reservoir towards the chassis will remove it from the nut. Pull the washer reservoir forward to get the rear mounting post and the grommet in the dash panel apart and then lift it up to get the lower mounting post away from the grommet in the top of the right front wheel house before you take the reservoir out of the engine compartment. When mounting, position the reservoir in the engine section, place the lower post in the grommet on top of the right front wheel house and insert the rear post into the grommet at the back of the dash panel. Place the washer reservoir mounting hole over the stud nut on the inner fender so it's lined up and then install it and tighten the bolt, using a torque of 6 N.m (50 in. lbs.). Fit the other end of the washer supply hose over the outlet nipple on the washer pump/motor and push it into the trough located on top of the washer reservoir. Attach the vehicle wire harness connector for the washer pump/motor to the motor connector receptacle and slot the vehicle wire harness into the routing clip on the washer reservoir's front. Take the upper turbocharger heat shield and the upper air cleaner housing down from the engine bay, fill the washer reservoir with what you drained and hook the negative cable from the battery back up.
