2003 Dodge Viper Fuel Tank Parts and Q&A
Q: How Is the Fuel Tank Serviced on 2003 Dodge Viper?
A: Before servicing the fuel tank, clear the fuel system pressure and drain the tank. Detach the PDC's positive battery cable and then take off the fuel tank closeout panel. Only remove the fuel filler neck mounting screws, cut off the filler tube from the fuel tank and take out the rubber vapor recirculation tube from the fuel filler tube. Detach the EVAP canister supply line at the ORVR control valve and then take out the two fuel tank attaching bolts. Pull the fuel tank rearward to unhook the fuel line and the electrical connector at the fuel pump module and then use shop towels to cover the ends of the fuel line to absorb what is left. Once the fuel tank is removed, set it in the trunk opening a few inches down, connect its fuel pump module plug and link the EVAP canister supply line to the ORVR system's control valve. Join the fuel line to the pump, advance the tank and install the filler tube on the fuel tank, tightening the clamp above it. Position the rubber vapor recirculation line between the fuel filler tube and the tank, place the fuel filler neck into its position in the body panel opening and tighten the holding screws. Put the two fuel tank bolts inside, tightening them to 20 Nm (177 in. lbs.). Top up the fuel, then reattach the positive battery cable at the Power Distribution Center and use the DRB Scan Tool ASD Fuel System Test to check for fuel leaks. Next, put the closeout panel in the trunk and clean within the trunk.
