2004 Chrysler Crossfire Intake Manifold Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an Intake Manifold on 2004 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: After unplugging the negative battery, take out the air cleaner housing, remove the mass air flow sensor and fuel rail with fuel injectors. Untie the vacuum tubes connecting the EGR valve, brake booster, crankcase ventilator and purge valve to the intake manifold, before also disconnecting the engine harness connector and EGR pipe at the EGR valve. Get rid of the switchover valves in the intake area and the bolts keeping the manifold in position along with their gaskets. Prepare for installation by cleaning the gaskets on both the cylinder heads and the intake manifold. After that, place the manifold over the heads using new gaskets. After installing the intake manifold bolts, tighten them to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) and then go on to install the air pump switchover valves and tighten their bolts to the same pressure. Attach the EGR pipe fitting to the EGR valve and tighten it until the torque reaches 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.), later on put the mass air flow sensor in and join the engine harness wires again. After you disconnect the vacuum lines, reconnect them at the crankcase ventilator, purge valve, EGR valve and brake booster, then place the fuel rail and air cleaner housing. Then, place the negative cable back, turn the engine on and examine the system for leaks.
