2004 Dodge Grand Caravan Starter Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair a Starter Motor on 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Before serving and repairing the starter motor, disconnect the battery negative cable after releasing the hood latch and opening the hood. Put the vehicle up on safety stands to keep it raised. Tag the nut that fixes the B+ terminal to the starter solenoid and cut the connection between the starter solenoid and the starter. Then, remove the bolts that hold the starter to the transaxle bell-housing and take the starter out, splitting the starter spacer from the bellhousing. During installation, the starter spacer should have the flange facing towards the flywheel and you should put the starter on the transaxle bellhousing from this end. Attach the bolts, ground wire and nut to hold the starter to the transaxle bellhousing, snap the solenoid connector onto the starter and attach the nut to secure the B+ terminal to the starter solenoid. Return the vehicle to the ground position, fasten the negative terminal again and ensure the starter works.
