2004 Dodge Intrepid Exhaust Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain an Exhaust Manifold on 2004 Dodge Intrepid?
A: First, remove the negative cable from the remote jumper terminal and afterward, take out the air intake tube and air filter housing. After that, unbolt the battery cable housing tube from the transmission housing, then remove the bolts holding the EGR tube to the exhaust manifold and EGR valve, getting rid of the gaskets. Join loose and switched on one side without the electrical connector attached to the manifold, remove and then loosen up the V-Band clamp from the inlet to the converter on its opposite side. After removing the screws from the heat shield, remove the heat shields and take off the bolts from the exhaust manifold. Check each exhaust manifold for any damage or cracks, evaluate its flatness, look for any discoloration or deformation of the exhaust manifold gasket and confirm the distortion of the mounting surface of the cylinder head with a straightedge and gauge. When installing, insert the exhaust manifold and gasket and tighten the center bolts to 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.), then add the heat shields and tighten the screws to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). After installing a new V-Band clamp, tighten it at 10 Nm (100 in. lbs.), then add the oxygen sensor and the transmission wiring. Replace the gaskets on the EGR tube before installing it and tightening its screws to 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.), then put in the bolt connecting the battery cable housing tube to the transmission housing and tighten it to 101 Nm (75 ft. lbs.). After that, mount the air intake tube and the air filter housing back in place and connect the negative cable.
