How to service a Pilot Bearing on 2004 Dodge Ram 1500?

The pilot bearing should be serviced after you remove the transmission and the clutch disc. Take out the pilot bearing with the right blind hole puller. While installing, first clean the opening for the bearing with solvent and dry it off with a shop towel. The bearing should line up with the diagonal mark near the transmission, be flush with the outside of its hole and not be cocked or pitted; this is best done using a clutch alignment tool. After that, fit the clutch disc, pressure plate and the entire transmission.
