2004 Dodge Ram 2500 Coolant Reservoir Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain the Coolant Reservoir for a 5.9L Engine on 2004 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: You have to first remove the coolant recovery hose from the radiator and then take out the bolt that holds down the container on the fan shroud for this 5.9L engine. Tilt the container so the engine is lower, moving backward, to unlock the mounting pins and then lift it away from the fan shroud. To attach the tub, line up the mounting pins on it with the slots inside the fan shroud, then push down on the tub. Once you are sure you've engaged the locking feature on the mounting pins, lock the container using the bolt by tightening it to 8.5 Nm (75 in. lbs.). Lastly, connect the recovery hose once more to the radiator.
