2004 Dodge Stratus Engine Control Module Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an Engine Control Module (ECM) on 2004 Dodge Stratus?
A: Before you work on the Engine Control Module (Ngc) Controller, make sure to reprogram the new Pcm with the vehicle's original Vin and mileage, otherwise you may see a diagnostic trouble code (Dtc). Air-box idle speed will not be lowered until after 320 km (200 miles) of operation in B3 chassis, so make sure to update the mileage and Vin in the new Pcm with the Drbiii(R) tool if it is replaced at that time. Should the control module not be reset, a Dtc may be set and, if the car uses Skim, starting it would require a secret key transfer. Before you remove the Pcm connectors, turn off the ignition key and take out the negative cable from the battery to protect the Pcm from a voltage surge. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal first and make sure it's isolated. Take out the two nuts holding the Pcm and bracket together, break the connections at the Pcm and remove all three screws fixing the Pcm to the bracket. To install the Pcm, secure it to the bracket, set it back in place in your vehicle, join and lock the electronic connectors, fit the two nuts, attach the negative battery cable again and reset both the radio and clock. With the Drbiii(R) scan tool, you will now move on to enter the mileage and Vin into the Pcm.
