2005 Dodge Sprinter 2500 Drive Belt Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Drive Belt on 2005 Dodge Sprinter 2500?
A: Start with taking off the A/C compressor drive belt before handling the accessory drive belt. Add a 3/8 inch drive-long handle ratchet to the 3/8 inch square hole on the automatic belt tensioner, then turn the ratchet and tensioner assembly in the anticlockwise direction to release the belt's tension. Initially, you should take the belt from the water pump pulley, after which you need to take it from the vehicle itself. Make sure to fit the accessory drive belt in the right position and make sure it is the suitable length; this will help prevent the water pump from rotating to the wrong side and overheating the engine while it runs. Lay the drive belt over every pulley except the water pump pulley, grab a 3/8 inch ratchet and slowly rotate it in the counterclockwise direction on the tensioner. After putting the belt over the pump pulley, let the tensioner rotate back then check and confirm the belt is on every pulley before securing the A/C compressor drive belt.
