2005 Dodge Sprinter 3500 Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Rear Parking Brake Cable on 2005 Dodge Sprinter 3500?
A: When servicing the rear parking brake cable, raise and support the car, remove the tires and park brake shoes. Release the park brake cables from the shoe and detach every link on the hand brake cable. Remove the cable from the park brake, always remembering its previous position for later and remove the hand brake cable from its anchor point. At the end, pull the cable out of the vehicle by gently pressing in on the locking ring on the pulley unit. When you install, make sure the park brake cable is not overly tight and may not rub on anything. Secure the hand brake cable to the anchor plate first, then secure the park brake cable lock and lastly, connect all pieces of hardware cable. After that, connect the brake cable to the shoe, place the park brake shoes and then install the rear wheels. Pull on the parking brake before you start bringing the vehicle down.
