2005 Dodge Viper Air Bag Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What Actions Are Necessary After an Air Bag Deployment in a Collision on 2005 Dodge Viper?
A: Once a Driver air bag deploys after colliding, the air bag, Clock Spring Assembly, Steering Wheel and Steering Column Assembly should be changed. If an air bag deploys, all related vehicle components must be inspected and replaced only when their damage clearly needs it. After an automobile accident in which the Passenger air bag is deployed, it must be replaced and all air bags and vehicle components should be checked and serviced if they appear damaged. Once air bags have gone off in a frontal collision, you must replace the Front Seat Belt Retractors (Driver and passenger) with integral Tensioners. Any other seat belts in the car should be inspected and replaced when damage from cuts, tears or fraying is noticed. Latch child restraint anchors must be looked over for any damage after a crash and changed if there's any problem. Afterwards, roll or fold the air bag back in place and tape its ripped cover over the inflated air bag if you can do so. First use the vacuum cleaner from the outside in to suck up what remains of the powder inside the car. Clean the heater and A/c outlets and make sure that you run the blower on low while vacuuming any resulting powder from those openings.
