2006 Dodge Charger Door Handle Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Front Door Handle on 2006 Dodge Charger?
A: You should start by taking out the trim panel, speaker and watershield from the inside of the front door. After that, take out the screw that holds the bottom of the pull cup bracket and the window regulator rear rail to the door. Release the screw at the top of the pull cup bracket and then take the upper pull cup bracket screw out of the keyed hole and remove the bracket. Access the latch release link attached to the exterior door handle by pressing the plastic clip behind the door inside the shell and pulling that link free. Make sure the handle on the driver's side is unlocked by first unfitting the plastic clip holding the lock actuator to the lock cylinder. Remove the three inner screws holding the handle in place and take the handle out from the outside of the door. During installation, put the exterior handle into mounting holes and tighten three screws from the inside; these should be tightened to 5 N.m (44 in.lbs.). Connect the lock actuator link from the driver side to the lock cylinder and hold it with the plastic clip. Latch release the lock by moving the link to the exterior handle and fastening it with the plastic pin. Push the upper screw into the pull cup bracket by hand, insert it into the keyed hole and secure the bottom of the bracket along with the window regulator rear rail with a screw tightened to 11 N.m (100 in.lbs.). At the end, set the screw in the top of the pull cup bracket to 10 N.m (90 in.lbs.), then line up the watershield, speaker and trim panel again inside the door.
