2006 Dodge Sprinter 3500 Thermostat Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely and Effectively Service a Thermostat on 2006 Dodge Sprinter 3500?
A: For this maintenance, it's essential to cover your eyes, wear safety clothing and gloves, because hot engine coolant can lead to scalding and drinking it may be poisonous. Disconnect the negative battery cable and toss out some engine coolant till it starts to drip. Cut the power, unhook the connector, remove the locking item and take out the coolant temperature sensor. First, disconnect the intake hose for air from the charge pipe and second, take out the cooling hoses from the thermostat housing. Unfasten the oil filter housing's cap and take out the thermostat housing. After that, make sure you clean every sealing surface. Before installation, wipe off the sealing areas, fit the thermostat housing using a fresh gasket and tighten all four bolts to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.). Examine each clamp and hose, replacing what needs to be changed. After that, put on the oil filter housing cap, attach the coolant hoses, connect the vent hose and connect the air intake hose. After the drain, complete your connection with the negative battery cable and then top off the coolant system with the suitable number and mixture of coolant. Make sure to exercise safety around the fan and engine, always keeping away from any parts while they are operating and remember to not wear anything too loose. Afterwards, turn on the engine and make sure there are no leaks.
