2007 Chrysler Aspen Power Steering Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What Are the Steps and Precautions for Installing a Power Steering Pump Pulley on 2007 Chrysler Aspen?
A: Be sure not to reinstall the old power steering pump pulley, since it cannot be used again; don't forget to put a new pulley wheel on once you've taken the old one off. You should replace the pulley if it has bends, cracks or is loose. Operate the OTC(R) 7771 or a similar tool to fasten the new pulley to the pump so it's level with the shaft and centered with the pump shaft. Run the engine with the power steering pump installed for about 5 minutes while it's warm and listen for any belt noise. Should you hear a chirp, move the pulley outward about 0.5 mm (0.020 in.) and if the noise is worse, increase the pressure by 1.0 mm (0.040 in.), keeping it away from the mounting bolts.
