2007 Dodge Caravan Front Cross-Member Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Front Cross-Member on 2007 Dodge Caravan?
A: Lay the front cross-member on a lifting device before proceeding. Place the cradle cross-member over the vehicle and put in the connecting bolts loosely. Lay the top half of the bushing over the cross-member, adjusting it so that the square tube coming up from the lower bushing part fits inside. Hold the cradle cross-member over the positions marked on the frame rails and attach it using the bolts. Attach the through bolt at the rear of the engine mount to the cradle cross-member and tighten it with 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.) torque. After that, install the rear mount heat shield, join the lower ball joints to the steering knuckles and hook the stabilizer bar links onto the ends of the stabilizer bar. Screw the bolts onto the leads of the anti-lock brake sensor to join them to the cradle cross-member, then install the high-pressure hose onto the pump and hook the return hose onto the metal tube by tightening the clamp at the coupling of the cradle cross-member. Once you've disconnected the pinch-off pliers, straighten the front wheels using the steering. First, fit the steering column coupling on the shaft and then secure it with the clinch bolt. After that, put on the steering column cover backing plate, secure the lower steering column cover inside the instrument panel and attach the battery negative cable.
