2007 Dodge Grand Caravan Trunk Lid Latch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install and Repair a Trunk Lid Latch on 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: In order to service and repair the latch trunk/liftgate, one has to position the power latch on the vehicle first. Join the liftgate lock cylinder dead center with the link rod in the cinch latch assembly, then twist the plastic retaining clip 90o so that it fits within the rod. Then, you should attach a link rod to the lock cylinder, and fix three new power latch retaining bolts on it, and, referring to the torque levels, remedying them with 10 Nm ( 90 in.lbs.). Link the power latch electric connector up and fix the push pin retainers, and connect the battery negative cable. Connect an appropriate scan device and see if the power liftgate control module has any power latch diagnostic trouble codes and erase them. Check the power liftgate system as well as the power cinch/release latch operation by performing one complete power liftgate cycle up, and then down, to allow the control module to learn its new cycle with the new parts. Verify that the power liftgate operates manually by turning the lock cylinder with the liftgate key, to perform a check of the doors operation, and by grasping the exterior liftgate handle/switch and pulling open the door. At last, fit the liftgate trim panel.
