How to Maintain and Fix an Axle Shaft for a Single Rear Wheel on 2007 Dodge Sprinter 2500?

Position the vehicle on a hoist with the gearbox in neutral to deal with servicing and repairing the single rear wheel axle shaft. You can drain the fluid by getting rid of the drain plug (1). After that, unbolt the brake caliper, rotor and the park brakes from the hub. Pop out the axle flange (1) plug snap ring (2) first and then use a hammer and punch to loosen and remove the axle flange from the end plug. Then, extract the axle bearing bolts (1) from the axle (2) and get rid of the axle shaft (1) and the bearing (2) inside the axle. Now, force the axle shaft out from the flange and bearing.
