  A: Before servicing or repairing the alternator, first remove the negative battery cable from the battery. Following that, remove the right front wheel, along with the underbody air dam and accessory drive splash shield. After that, take out the accessory drive idler pulley and slip the lower mounting bolt out. Move the A/C compressor by rotating it down and outwards to allow enough room for you to remove the generator. Disconnect the field circuit from the generator and after that, take out the B+ terminal nut and wire. The next step is to take out the upper mounting bolt and the generator lower mounting bolt. Put the green terminal (1) on the same side of the black A/C line (2) to make it easier to take out the generator. Bring the generator's pulley to the front, then remove the generator from the car by lowering it and pulling it out.
