2008 Dodge Viper Headlight Bulb Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Headlight Bulb and Its HID Components on 2008 Dodge Viper?
A: Before fixing or changing anything in your car's headlamps, open the deck lid and get rid of the four Bolts securing the battery area. Cut off the negative terminal for the battery from the rest of the system. To access the bottom side, take out the fender extension splash shield with your fasteners; if more area is required, also remove the assembly of the wheel and tire. After that, disconnect the three nuts from the headlamp access panel and remove the panel. Grab the lamp/igniter assembly spring holder and pull it straight out of the headlamp unit, then separate it from the connector. Replace the ballast module only if it is compatible with the lamp or igniter. Again open the hood and once more remove the battery compartment cover, then disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the front fender extension splash shield the same way and then take out the three nuts above the headlamp. Unscrew both retaining screws on the ballast module, lift off the bracket and then unconnect the cable from the inside of the headlamp access cover before taking away the ballast module. To use the high beam, first unlock the deck, lift the battery compartment and separate the battery's negative cable. Unscrew the front fender extension splash shield, remove all three nuts from under the headlight and shift the headlight about 1/4 turn to pull it straight out. After that, remove the headlamp from the vehicle by loosening and disconnecting its electrical connector.
