2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Headlight Bulb Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Service and Replace a Halogen Headlight Bulb on 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: When servicing a Halogen Headlamp bulb, turn off the lights and remove the battery negative cable to prevent getting hurt by the High Intensity Discharge (HID) system. Be careful around electrical hazards, explosives from things like oil or gas, exposure to the sun's UV light, high temperatures and dangerous mercury leaks from broken HID bulbs. Make sure you have insulated shoes, goggles and safety gloves and avoid allowing any flammable substances around while the job area is ventilated. Choose the proper replacement bulb size and kind to prevent overheating and any damage. Never touch the bulb glass or any oily objects to keep your bulb from burning out too soon. Slide the base of the low beam or high beam bulb into the keyed opening in the reflector, press down to seat the bulb and then twist the bulb base clockwise about one-third of a turn to secure it. Reattach the pigtail wire to the receptacle on the bulb base, put the front lamp unit cover in place if installed and lastly attach the battery negative cable.
