How to Service and Repair a Cigarette Lighter in the Center Console on 2009 Dodge Avenger?

Before you work on the center console cigarette lighter, disconnect and isolate the car battery's negative cable. Open the console cover and insert special tool 9857 Cigarette Lighter Remover onto the bosses. Ease the pliers back and forth to gently lift out the base from under the mounting ring. Cut the base wires, put the base aside and then take out the base mount ring.
