To remove the trunk or liftgate latch (Compass and Patriot models), first remove the lower trim panel. For the Compass, take off three of the fasteners and unconnect the electrical connectors and release cable. For the Patriot, disconnect the latch cable, clip, lock rod, fasteners and electric connector before removing the latch assembly.
