2010 Dodge Grand Caravan Starter Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Starter Motor for 3.3L and 3.8L Engines with a Six-Speed Automatic Transmission on 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Begin by installing the starter motor dust shield (No. 4) first to prepare for installing the starter motor on engines with six-speed automatic transmission. Rotate the starter assembly (5) to put into place in the transmission (2) and then secure it into position there. Fix the two front transmission mount onto the starter mounting bolts and use a torque wrench to tighten them to 47 Nm (35.5 ft. lbs.). When you have a vehicle with a six-speed automatic transmission, tighten the transmission assembly to the starter mounting bolt (1) until it reaches 47 Nm (35.5 ft. lbs.). Repeat the dust shield installation for the 3.3L engine and a four-speed automatic transmission, move the starter assembly into place (5) and put it together on the transmission (2). Again, connect the two front transmission mounts to the starter mounting bolts (3) and hand tighten them. Then install the transmission to the starter mounting stud (1) and tighten both to 47 Nm (35.5 ft. lbs.). After that, place the battery cable and nut on the solenoid stud and tighten the nut to 14.5 Nm, before connecting the electrical connector to the starter solenoid. After that, take off engine support tool 8534-12, reconnect the negative battery cable and tighten the nut to a torque of 5 Nm.
