- Q:How to Detach a Front Exterior Door Handle on Dodge Avenger?A:The trim panel covering the door must be removed to remove the exterior handle. Afterwards, lift the door glass up and disconnect the latch rod at the door latch. Next, detach the two nuts that secure the door handle to the outer door panel. Remove the outside door handle from the door panel finally.
- Q:How to Install a Front Exterior Door Handle on Dodge Avenger?A:To service and repair the brake shoes, first lift the vehicle and remove the rear wheels. Remove the spring nuts that attach the drums to the wheel studs, and then take the brake drums off. In case it is difficult to remove the drums, retract the brake shoes via the access plug located at the backside of the backing plate by unscrewing the adjuster screw with the help of a brake tool and screwdriver. After that remove the U-clip and washer that hold the adjuster cable to the parking brake lever and the primary and secondary return springs from the anchor pin with brake spring pliers. Use a standard retaining spring tool to remove the retainer springs, retainers and pins. You should install spring clamps on the wheel cylinders to hold the pistons while you remove the adjuster lever, adjuster screw and spring, and adjuster cable and cable guide. In the end, remove the brake shoes and parking brake strut, detach the cable at the parking brake lever, and take out the lever. To prepare for installation, use a brake cleaner to clean the support plate; if new drums are going to be installed, scrape off the protective film with a carburetor cleaner and rinse with a brake cleaner. Apply a light coat of Mopar multi-mileage grease on the anchor pin and lubricate it. Apply the same grease to the brake shoe contact surfaces of the support plate. Spray-lube the adjuster screw threads and pivot, then attach the parking brake lever to the secondary brake shoe with a new washer and U-clip. Detach the wheel cylinder clamps and connect the parking brake cable to the lever. The brake shoes should be fitted onto the support plate and secured in position using new hold down springs, pins and retainers. Followed by the parking brake strut and spring. The guide plate and adjuster cable are to be installed onto the anchor pin and install primary & secondary return springs. Install adjuster cable guide onto secondary shoe then grease and assemble adjuster screw and install it along with spring and lever and attach adjuster cable. The shoe must be adjusted to the drum, followed by installing the wheel/tire assemblies. Initially, verify firm brake pedal before moving the vehicle.
