Dodge Avenger TPMS Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a TPMS Sensor on Dodge Avenger?
    A:
You should start by removing old seal 2 and metal washer 1 and replace them at the bottom of the sensor valve stem 6 before fitting the sensor. Clean all around the sensor/valve mounting area in wheel 5, so the wheel surface is spotless. Be careful not to press the sensor antenna strap, so press near metal valve stem 2 as you move the sensor into the wheel from inside. Put washer 3 and sensor nut 3 into place by hand, then push down on the sensor housing 2 to make it join with the interior of the wheel; then tighten sensor nut 3 to 8 Nm-71 in. lbs. Make sure not to crank the sensor nut too carefully, since it might result in the sensor separating from the valve. For rotating wheel tire changers, place the sensor valve stem 2 approximately 280° away from the head of the changer. For rotating tool tire changers, position it 210° to the right away from the mounting/dismounting tool and be sure the sensor is clear of the lower part of the bead breaker. Make the tire pressure fit the instructions on the Tire Pressure Label and be sure the original valve stem cap is properly fixed. Affix the tire and wheel assembly to the vehicle, get rid of the support and lower down the car. Use TPM-RKE Analyzer, 9936, to program the tire pressure sensor ID into the WCM/SKREEM or just drive above 15 mph (24 km/h) for 10 minutes after the car has been at rest for at least 20 minutes. If a sensor can't be programmed to the correct signal strength, follow the diagnostic requirements.
