How to Maintain and Fix an Exhaust Pipe on Dodge Caravan?

Make sure the negative cable of your battery is removed before servicing or repairing the exhaust crossover pipe. Remove the fasteners from the left bank manifold connection to the crossover pipe, lift the car and remove its left front wheel. From the left front wheel opening, insert a long ratchet extension and loosen the fastener on the lower right bank pipe. Then, through the catalytic converter pan tunnel, use the same ratchet to loosen and remove the upper right bank pipe fastener. Ease the vehicle down and eliminate the crossover pipe, throwing out the gaskets afterward. During installation, connect the crossover pipe to the manifold, lay a new gasket on the left bank (front) joint and only loosely attach the bolts for now. Lift the vehicle again, fit the new gasket in the right bank pipe connection and join the fasteners. Use a long ratchet extension from the left wheel well to tighten the right upper fastener and the lower fastener on that side to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Secure the left front wheel, then bring the vehicle down to level and at last, tighten the left bank pipe connection bolts to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
