For 24 hours after installing your windshield, avoid using the vehicle to allow the urethane adhesive to finish curing, as not doing so could harm the windshield in an accident. Roll part of the door glass down before beginning any installation, so it doesn't cause pressure inside the car if a door is inadvertently slammed. Be sure to avoid contact between urethane or primers and all painted and trimmed areas. If you are going to use the windshield again, clean all the old urethane off the surface of the glass using a razor knife so as not to hurt the paint along the fence. Remove most of the old adhesive off the windshield fence, so there is still about 1 mm and replace all damaged and missing spacers along the edge. Even out the urethane bead on the windshield fence to about 1 mm and remove any glue that is loose. Attach a new rubber seal at the top of the windshield and then lift the glass into the car while two people guide it to be even with both top and bottom. Find a few marks on the car so you can find everything again, then set aside the windshield and rest it on padding while you work. With an ammonia glass cleaner and a clean cloth, wipe the inside of the windshield, dry it, apply the glass prep adhesion promoter 25 cm around the rim, then dry again until you can't see any streaks. Following that, glaze the edge in a 25 mm area with glass primer, let it dry for three minutes and confirm it is even by using a light, filling in uneven spots with more primer. Clean the fence on the windshield with ammonia-based glass cleaner, then put on pinch weld primer 15 mm wide around the fence and let it dry for three minutes to ensure an even application. Squeeze an even line of adhesive that's 10 millimeters wide onto the glass, making sure it's no more than 6 millimeters from the edge and smooth the ends together. Once you have help, set the windshield onto the opening, match its marks with yours and use the windshield fence to gently lower it onto the rough rubber ring at the bottom. Make sure the windshield touches the spacers to hold it steady, then add the side moldings and cowl grille after that. Lastly, set up the rear view mirror.
