Dodge Dakota Drain Plug Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Drain Plug on Dodge Dakota?
    A:
Before touching the Radiator drain plug, make sure the system is cool and there is no pressure to prevent major burns from the coolant. Rotate the draincock stem counterclockwise to remove it from the tank and its body. With the radiator off, use needle nose pliers to squish the draincock and then remove the assembly straight off the radiator. When installing, gently put the stem into the body of the draincock, so the threads do not go into the body and push the draincock assembly into the tank opening until it clicks into place. Lastly, loosen the draincock counterclockwise and twist slightly harder so it's tightened by a torque of 2.0 - 2.7 Nm (18 -25 inch lbs.).
