First take out the cylinder head to have access to the lifter/lash adjuster hydraulic tappets. First, take out the cylinder head, then remove the yoke retainer and put the yokes back together. Drill them out using Special Tool C-4129 or another equivalent tool and be sure to ID each tappet for correct installation if they will be reused. Before installing the taps, apply lubricant to them and place them back in the same spots, when being reused. After that, fit the tappet aligning yokes and attach the yoke retainer, tightening the screws to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). After that, fit the cylinder heads again and start up the engine, letting it run until it reaches normal working temperature. Be sure to avoid letting the engine run above its fast idle until the oil has filled the hydraulic tappets and the valves run quietly, so that no damage happens to the valve mechanism.
