Wind the clutch back to remove the final drive, then reverse the procedure to set the intermediate shaft in its place. Guide the intermediate shaft coupling into the intermediate shaft extension until its hole matches up for connecting the pinch bolt, then use a 36 ft. lb. wrench to tighten the pinch bolt at the extension. After that, place the intermediate shaft on the steering gear shaft, slide the coupling over the steering gear shaft and, if required, tap the coupling into its proper position using a hammer and special drift. Press the coupling pinch bolt onto the steering gear shaft and tighten it to 49 Nm (36 ft. lbs.). After that, secure the air cleaner housing, take out the steering wheel holder and attach the battery's negative cable to the negative post.
