  The first step to servicing the liftgate hinge is releasing the latch, opening the liftgate and holding it up with a suitable rod. Stick some tape against the roof around the hinge and then detach the trim panel from inside the trunk. If you can't reach the bolts from the top, you may need to uninstall the headlining to gain access. Place marks on the liftgate hinge, showing where the liftgate studs are located, using a suitable marker. After that, take out the nuts that secure the hinge to the liftgate, plus the cover. Unscrew the liftgate hinge bolts and retrieve any shims from in between the hinge and sport bar before taking out the liftgate. Start with the liftgate hinge on the vehicle, then put any retrieved shims between the hinge and the sport bar and install the bolts to connect the hinge to the roof panel.   Install the trunk/liftgate hinge by placing the decklid hinge onto the vehicle and install any shims removed during removal between the hinge and trunk pad. Install the hinge to the trunk pan using bolts and tighten it up to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Lay the hinge on the decklid and attach it loosely with the hinge-to-decklid attaching bolts and be sure to align the hinge marks on the decklid. When aligned, secure the hinge to decklid bolts to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Check that the decklid operates and is aligned and adjust as required. Next install splash shields and wheels rear, clamping them to the specified torque.
