You should start by raising and holding up the liftgate if you want to replace a trunk or liftgate hinge. After that, take out the liftgate upper trim and the bolts connecting the hinge to the header. After that, remove the bolts holding the hinge to the liftgate. When you're installing, set the hinge on the liftgate and attach the bolts, making sure the torque is 19 ft.lbs. After that, attach the hinge to the header panel using bolts and tighten them to 26 N.m (19 ft.lbs.) torque. Then, set the liftgate opening upper trim in place again, remove its support and snap the liftgate shut.
