To work on the correct exhaust manifold, disconnect the negative cable on the battery and raise the vehicle from beneath. After removing them, lower the car by disconnecting the
Exhaust Pipe from the exhaust manifold. After that, detach the exhaust heat shield, then unscrew all the supporting bolts, nuts and washers between the manifold and cylinder head, taking off the manifold and the gasket last. If the studs unscrewed with the nuts, install new studs with a little sealer applied to their coarse ends to prevent the manifold from leaking. Place the engine exhaust manifold and gasket on the cylinder head's two studs, then add conical washers and the nuts. Add in the last conical washers and tighten them along with their bolts and nuts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) torque, starting in the middle and expanding outwards. Fit back the heat shields and tighten them enough to hold securely, but do not make them too tight to prevent damage. Attach the exhaust pipe to the manifold and use bolts, nuts and retainers to keep everything in place, tightening them up to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.) torque.
