The Ram Thermostat is in a position between the engine and the radiator, which measures the coolant temperature and opens or closes a valve to maintain the motor in a safe and efficient temperature range. In case of creeping of the cooling needle, changing the Thermostat is not that difficult that a weekend warrior can do it. Roll to flat ground, de-volt the battery, pour out a gallon of coolant, and loosen the hose clamp before cracking the housing. Unclip the worn-out Ram Thermostat, clean the mating surface, plop the new unit with jiggle valve up, fit a new gasket, and evenly tighten bolts. Connect the hose again, add coolant, remove air, reunite the battery, warm the engine until the fan turns off and ensure that the Thermostat opens without difficulty and maintains the current temperature.
