2000 Chrysler Sebring Steering Wheel Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Steering Wheel on 2000 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Pull the boot off with a rod after applying grease to the lip on the inside of the steering wheel. Then, for the inner cover, spread grease on the inner lip, seal the edge and use the rod to enlarge the lip from the back as you move the cover sideways to loosen it. In order to remove the steering lock cylinder, take out the special bolts at the steering lock bracket side with a hacksaw. When assembling, reattach the steering lock bracket to the column tube and check that the steering lock fits with the column boss, as you tighten the bolts until the heads are twisted off and then stick the old parts aside for new ones to go on. On the inside, cover the lip with oil and slide the other cover over the joint. After installing the bearings, put Mopar Multi-mileage Lubricant Part No. 2525035 or an equivalent inside, hold them on the shaft in the joint assembly, wrap plastic tape around their concave sides and press them into the cover assembly. Afterward, spread some grease on the inside edge of the boot and set it into place. When carrying out an inspection, check the steering shaft for movement, examine the joints for play or any destruction, test the joint bearing for wear and look for damage on the dust shield.
