2000 Dodge Avenger Camshaft Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Camshaft on 2000 Dodge Avenger?
A: Initially, you should remove the camshaft sprocket and the rocker arm and rocker shaft assembly by placing special tools beneath the rocker arms to prevent dropping the lash adjusters and not to separate the rocker arm and rocker shaft assembly. Apply engine oil to the cams and journals of the camshafts and then put the dowel pins in place, remembering not to confuse them since the pin from the rear bank has a 4 mm slit in its end. Apply oil to all around the edge of the oil seal before using the special press kit. The next step is to place the camshaft sprocket and distributor; first, have the No. 1 cylinder be at top dead center on the compression stroke, line up their marks and then put in the distributor. Make sure to verify the ignition timing as part of your check.
