Before installing the camshaft, ensure the cam cap shows numbered one, two or three depending on which select fit bearing is right for you, then fit the right select fit bearing. All camshaft journals should be well oiled with clean engine oil and if they have been taken off, put in the camshaft phasers and check that the dowel is in its proper position before tightening the camshaft phaser bolt by hand. Following this, fit the
Timing Chain to the exhaust cam sprocket, make sure the timing marks on both are lined up and put the exhaust camshaft on its bearings in the cylinder head, making sure the timing mark is parallel to the cylinder head. Adjust the rear of the intake camshaft upwards and roll the sprocket onto the chain, keeping the timing marks on both the sprocket and the chain aligned as you set the intake camshaft into the bearing journals. Make sure both camshafts have their timing marks lined up and that each timing mark is straight alongside the cylinder head. The front camshaft bearing cap should be installed last, so the dowels are in place and the table you got from the service manual is followed to prevent engine damage and if it breaks, the cylinder head needs to be replaced. Add the intake and exhaust camshaft bearing caps by turning their bolts to 9.5 Nm in the correct order and check that both bearing shells are in place and the dowels are well seated in the head, before torquing any of them. Put the front intake and exhaust bearing cap into place and tighten the bolts in the ordered sequence so that they reach 25 Nm. Also, ensure that all timing marks are lined up after you tighten them. Take out the allen wrench and pull upward on the end of the grommet rope to remove locking wedge 9701. Use thread sealant on the timing tensioner plug, set it into place and add the splash shield to the right side. Take out the RTV from the gasket and look for harm on the cylinder head cover gaskets. If the gaskets are intact, set them back in place. Cover the head of the cylinder, attach the negative
Battery Cable, add coolant to the radiator, add the oil, run the engine briefly to look for leaks and install the cover over the engine.
