2000 Dodge Caravan Heater Core Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Heater Core for Rear on 2000 Dodge Caravan?
A: The first step in servicing the heater core is to remove the lower right quarter trim panel. After that, unfasten and remove the hoses hooked to the heater core and loosen the retaining screws. Take care to remove the heater core and all attached tubes from the unit. When installing, do the actions in reverse and provide the heater core with coolant fluid. After you installed, check for any leaks and watch the system operate. If you did not fill the heater core before emptying, drive the vehicle twice to help create and transport pressure in the system, as gravity flowing from the higher heater core won't work. Thermal cycle by driving the car until the thermostat activates, shut it off and let it rest as it cools down. To confirm that the auxiliary unit is full, make sure your vehicle is at a normal temperature outside, bring the engine up to operating temperature without the front unit running and all temperature slides on full heat, idle the engine and set the rear blower motor to its highest setting. The temperature measured at the dual register on the C-pillar base must be between 57°C and 62°C (135°F and 145°F).
